Michelle Scarborough is an experienced executive with a track record of business achievement spanning more than 17 years. Currently Vice President, Investment and Commercialization at OCRI, Michelle leads the IC Group, a team of business leaders and seasoned investment professionals she gathered together to help start up and emerging knowledge based companies commercialize, grow revenues, and access capital. Since 2008, companies in her portfolio have raised more than $100 million in new investment.
Prior to joining OCRI, Michelle held senior executive positions in several private and public sector companies including Solflex Energy Developments (CEO) and The Portables (Director). Through her own company, Scarborough and Associates, she acted on behalf of VC investors on matters related to due diligence, corporate development, and restructuring of portfolio companies. Her public company experience includes as founder and seed investor in several capital pool companies and publicly traded businesses in a range of industry sectors, including Palmarejo Silver and Gold (TSX Venture Exchange), purchased by Coeur d’Alene Mines in a $1billion transaction in 2007, and PBS Coals Corp, the largest transaction trade on the TSX Venture Exchange. She remains an active angel investor in the Ottawa marketplace.
Ms. Scarborough graduated from the University of Calgary with dual bachelor designations in Science and Communications. She was honored as a 2008 Top 40 Under 40 Award Recipient and is a regular guest of various media, reporting on investment trends in technology in Canada on a quarterly basis. Ms. Scarborough currently sits on the boards of several private corporations and on the board of the National Angel Capital Organization.
