As Torstar Digital’s Vice President, Strategy and New Ventures, Candice is responsible for creating the next generation of Torstar Digital’s businesses and developing the company’s overall growth strategy.
Candice has been at Torstar Digital since the beginning and has been instrumental in the Torstar division’s growth, including playing a key role in the foundation of start-up ventures and partnerships such as Torstar Digital itself (which now has over 200 employees and 8 businesses) as well as Olive Media (Canada’s largest premium ad network) and TOPS (a proprietary content management system).
But it is Candice’s latest project that brings her to mesh 2011: she has been involved closely with the acquisition and growth of Wagjag, a group-buying platform that is similar to Groupon, and has been seeing tremendous growth just like its larger U.S. counterpart. Candice will be on a panel at mesh talking about the phenomenon of group buying and what it says about the future of retail online.
