We’re Pleased to Announce…meshmarketing
We are pleased to announce a new event we’re calling meshmarketing on October 22 in Toronto.
meshmarketing is a one-day event focused on insights, tools and tactics to help you win customers’ hearts and minds online — through a combination of great keynotes, “show and tell” presentations and in-depth workshops.
General admission is C$489 + GST. Get your ticket here.
At meshmarketing, you will interact with digital marketing thought leaders, connect with peers and prospects, and get a better understanding of the impact that new developments online will have on your strategy and your job. Together, we’ll discuss best practices and the successful use of social media, online marketing, mobile marketing, search, video and word-of-mouth.
meshmarketing brings together people who are passionate about the potential of the Web to change how we live, work and play. This day is not just about presentations from the stage. Like our other events, meshmarketing will be a highly interactive experience where we will continue the dialogue and explore the next generation of ideas, leaders and companies.
Who should attend? Marketers, digital agencies, PR practitioners, communication professionals and anyone passionate about marketing and the web.
You’re spending more and more of your budget building your business using the Web. But are you making the right calls? Is display the way to go? What about search? Social media? Community? Video?
You know that word-of-mouth is one of the most powerful tools you and your company can use to spread the word about your product(s) or service(s), and the Web is like word-of-mouth on steroids. What’s working and why?
Within minutes, fans can spread the news of a new service or feature across thousands of blogs, Facebook groups, Twitter updates and Web forums. What people think about your brand or company is influenced in a split-second. Unfortunately for some companies, that same power can spread bad news just as widely and just as quickly.
Come to meshmarketing to sort through the noise so that you can benefit from the former and handle the latter.
meshmarketing is where you get ahead.

Agreed. This year’s MESH was a big disappointment. Lots of fluff, self-promotion and “soft” marketing speak. Worse, every twit that knows how to @reply is now a self-proclaimed social media and marketing expert. Mark Evans may have been a good reporter in his day. But getting fired from your last Web 2.0 job and putting up your own shingle doesn’t qualify you as an expert. This whole industry feels like it’s going to implode on itself from an excess of self congratulation and insider buzz .

Kim, I’m sorry you felt that mesh was all about marketing. We thought we had a lot of interesting content from other fields as well, including media and business, as well as the political sphere.
And Jay, I’m sorry mesh was a disappointment for you as well. We certainly wouldn’t claim to be perfect, but we thought we put on a pretty good show and provided a lot of thoughtful content at a pretty reasonable price.
We’re happy to receive constructive criticism about things we could do better, so if you have any specific suggestions we’d definitely be interested in hearing them — but ad hominem comments about specific individuals aren’t particularly helpful.
mesh all about marketing, really? Kim and Jay, I’m not sure where your interests lie and maybe next year you should consider attending mesh U too.
I’ve attended all four mesh conferences. I thought this year’s mix of sessions was quite diverse – with a stronger emphasis on society and culture, and lots of sessions for startups.
I’ve attended every Mesh and this year I also attended Mesh U. I’m a marketer. Unapologetic about it too. But the neat thing about Mesh is that I can attend sessions that take me outside of my comfort zone. New things that I don’t get at a Marketing Conference. So, please keep programming the things that interest you, that you think are new. There’s lots of good stuff for everybody at Mesh.
But hey, having a focused day on marketing – MeshMarketing – it’s hard to argue with that! Looking forward to it.
I had a great time at MeshU this year, and am really excited for an event that puts together my two passions of technology and marketing. Can’t wait to hear more details in the coming weeks!
This looks fantastic. I can’t wait to see the lineup of speakers and presentations.

IMHO, this past MESH was pretty much all about marketing. Marketing is important, but I am looking for a forum where I can see what’s up and coming and innovative, with more than just a marketing focus.
Perhaps if you host MeshMarketing, MESH in the spring can focus on more than marketing.
