mesh 2007 is a go for liftoff!
Lately, we’ve had lots of people asking us — that is, Stuart and Rob and Mark and Mike and Mathew — whether we’re going to do another mesh conference in Toronto, like we did last May, and the answer is… hell, yes! We had such a great time that we’ve been wanting to do another one ever since we got finished cleaning up from the last one. Now we’ve got the venue and dates locked down, so we wanted to let everyone know that mesh 2007 is definitely a go.
We’re doing it at the MaRS Discovery Centre again, on University Ave near Queen’s Park, and the dates are Tuesday, May 30 and Wednesday, May 31 (we’ll let you know as soon as the ticket window is open so you can book your tickets). We’re hoping to pull together just as fantastic a group of speakers for keynote conversations and panel discussions, as well as blogging, podcasting and other workshops, and we’ll also be having the same kind of social in the atrium and after-party bash that were so well received last time.
Speaking of social events, we thought some of you might not be able to wait until next spring to talk about all the things that are happening on the Web involving social media, so we decided to have a kind of Toronto Web 2.0 mesh meetup in November. Nothing too fancy — just a come-one and come-all invite to the Irish Embassy pub on November 15, after around 6 p.m. or so, for some drinks and great conversation. Startup founders, bloggers, widget-developers, even journalists — all are welcome.
Of course, mesh 2006 involved a whole lot of great conversation too, and if you either couldn’t make it to the conference or wanted to relive some of those keynotes, we’ve uploaded audio files of each of our main conversations to this site: Silicon Valley-based venture capitalist Dr. Paul Kedrosky being interviewed by Mathew, public relations guru Steve Rubel from Edelman being interviewed by Stuart, former Business 2.0 writer Om Malik being interviewed by Mark, Canadian law professor Dr. Michael Geist being interviewed by Rob, and online marketing phenom Tara Hunt doing a great interactive presentation.
We hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed doing them. Feel free to share them with anyone who might be interested, provided you don’t charge anything for them, and and that you give credit to mesh. And get ready for some equally great keynotes and panels at mesh 2007!

[...] After such a fantastic time at mesh 2006 we’ve been looking forward to announcing a repeat performance. We’re very happy to announce that we now have dates and location nailed down – mesh 2007 will be held Tuesday, May 30 and Wednesday, May 31 at MaRS – the superb facility that hosted us last year. More info is posted on the mesh blog, and registration and event details are coming soon, so please check back again for more info (Mike quite rightly points out that we sold out last year, so if you’re interesting in coming to ‘07, stay tuned). We’ve also just posted podcasts of the keynotes from mesh 2006, so if you’re wondering what to expect from mesh 2007, drop by and have a listen. [...]
“It’s not often that you can say “back by popular demand” and mean it, but in this case that’s absolutely true. Your feedback (and our enjoyment, frankly) was so all positive that we are doing it again. mesh is coming back, next Spring, here in Toronto.
More details are to come, but in the meantime please save the dates and plan to join us. Registration (which we are working hard at keeping affordable)…”
Back in the saddle for mesh 2007…
Ever since mesh ended back in May, we’ve had lots of people asking us — that is, Stuart and Rob and Mark and Mike — whether we’re going to do another one, and the answer is… hell, yes! In fact, we had such a great time at …
[...] Good news for the Toronto web 2.0 scene, the meshies are doing another conference at MaRS. Get the details here. If you can’t wait until next May, there will be a meetup at Irish Embassy on November 15th. Take a trip down memory lane here. [...]
[...] In the News Oct 23 at 1:54 pm by Tony Hung -Earlier this morning, Canada’s own Web Conference, Mesh 2007 was announced. [...] So those of you living in (or near) Toronto might be interested in coming along to a Web 2.0 meet up (it’s being put on by the mesh conference guys – by the way mesh is running again next May) that is happening on 15 November that Duncan and myself and some of the other local b5 crew will be attending. It’s at the Irish Embassy pub from 6pm. Full details are at the mesh blog and at Mark’s Blog (update – also at the blogs of Matthew, Stuart, Mike and Rob – this is going to be fun as these are some quality bloggers). [...]
[...] As Darren writes, rather than have a meetup of our own we’ve decided to tag on to another meetup, the Mesh meetup at the Irish Embassy Pub at 6pm, November 15 in Toronto. You’ll get to meet yours truly, Darren Rowse of course and a whole pile of other cool people including Mark Evans, Matthew Ingram and others. Unlike Darren I won’t be requiring a hug, however we’re not taking bets on the first thing I’m going to say when I get off the plane, because I already know what it’s going to be “F*ck it’s cold”…the only question is I guess, should I buy a drizabone before I leave or go local and purchase something Jeremy refers to as an Anorak when I get there? [...]
mesh is back…
Toronto’s own little big bloggering, podcastinating, social mediating conference is back for 2007. mesh 07 is on and it’s taking place on May 30 & 31. Co-organizer Stuart MacDonald has the details for ya.
Aside from thoroughly enjoyin…
This sounds like great news! And hopefully, I’ll be able to get a student ticket this time without hassling you guys, since I’m in university now
(I’m a first-year student at the University of Waterloo).
[...] MP3s of some presentations have just been posted on the Mesh site and are well worth a listen. Mesh was more than great presenters, however. It was also a chance to meet some of the world’s most interesting digital entrepreneurs, and there was a lot of networking going on. Stuart summed it up at the opening session: “Let’s mesh”. [...]
[...] Darren also posted an open invitation for a blogger meet-up in Toronto on November 15th at the Irish Embassy Pub around 6PM. Darren decided to piggyback off of the event organized by the Mesh Conference guys – yet even more Canadian bloggers! [...]
[...] The mesh conference is back. That’s good. What I would really love to see at the next mesh conference is a panel on gaming and virtual worlds. Since getting “a better understanding of the impact of new developments online” is part of the mesh conference mission statement, I think we’d be missing out a huge part of the latest online developments without it. [...]
Excellent news guys, looking forward to it… and to the drinks at the Embassy… see you on the 15th!
Hi King Gary! Thanks for dropping by – we’d love to see you this year – stay tuned for details.
[...] That’s not to say nothing interesting went on. There’s the mesh announcement, which comes complete with podcasts from May (finally!), there’s the crayon announcement (did Jaffe not know there’s already a crayon out there…in advertising no less?) and there’s a whole bunch of other stuff going on that is really interesting…a week away gives me a lot to think about. Kudos! The PR Class is blogging up a storm. They still have a long way to go technically, but the content is very good. [...]
Glad to see the wheels are in motion for Mesh 07. I had suggested at the end of this years’ Mesh that all attendees be given an “early-bird” opportunity to purchase tickets for the next event (i.e. 72-hour window to purchase tickets prior to going on sale to the general public). A nice gesture for those who supported the event the first time around. Any chance this will happen?
Best,
George
Thanks, George. At this point, that’s not something we’re considering, but we’re still in the planning process and all suggestions are welcomed.
Hey guys,
November 15 is the same day as the Yahoo Client Appreciation party/event. I’m guessing it might be too late to reschedule, but perhaps you could set up a Google list or message board so people who can’t be there can easily join the conversation.

[...] If you want to meet the guys behind Mesh, they’re having an informal meetup in Toronto on November 15th. I’ll be attending and would love to meet some of you. [...]
[...] Related Update : If you are interested in Startup Camp you would probably interest in Mesh (Canada’s Web Conference, returning May 30 & 31), and Mathew Ingram has a post reminding me about the mesh 2007 meetup on November 15. [...]
[...] Mesh is a Canadian web conference that will be held from May 30th to 31st 2007 in Toronto. I missed the first Mesh conference but have heard nothing but good things about if from a few friends that attended. So, as you can guess I’m planning to attend this one and looking forward to learning, connecting and sharing ideas with other attendees. I only wish I lived in Toronto so I could start at the MeetUp on November 15th. [...]
[...] Once again, good times. No, wait. Scratch that – great times. I’ve been really busy the past couple of days, from meeting Shel Holtz (who has obviously been so busy he hasn’t blogged since yesterday, although he’s having issues with one thing about a certain Toronto hotel…) at Toronto’s Third Tuesday event to running into some cool people I’ve met from previous events at the mesh:reloaded or “mesh returns” as it’s been lablelled gathering. Great, great gathering of people at both events, and thanks to all those who I spoke to, it was such a fantastic time. I enjoy the casual, grab-a-drink-and-chat-with-whoever sort of thing more now than, say six months ago when I didn’t know or recognize a soul. Different story now, folks. And Sulemaan, I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to the Yahoo! thing, but it’s been one long day of events, one after another. I’ve had my fill! I’m pressed for time, but my friend Darren wrote his very first blog post just today. I think everyone should take a look on the CCPR class blog (not to be confused with this year’s CCPR class blog).
