updated: fifteen minutes of fame – mesh style
Would you like to take the stage at mesh? Share your neat-o new web service, pitch for VC cash, or just regale the crowd with your very own, "but Mom thinks I’m very funny" witty repartee? Yes? Then *you* need to apply for the mesh fifteen minutes of fame. Go here to send us your 250 word "pitch" and if successful, you will be one of three people each day to have 5 minutes to yourself in the mesh spotlight (so yeah, it’s not the full-on 15 minutes of fame just for you, as per Andy Wharhol – but hey, we’re in Canada, so think metric, okay?
). Not only will you get the spotlight, but you will get in free on that day.
Mike talks about it here, Mark here, Mathew here, me here.
So what are you waiting for? Enter, already. And if you haven’t registered yet, how can you miss this? Register now.
Update: We have apparently tapped a vein. The great ideas are certainly a-flowing into mesh central. Keep ‘em coming…

Thanks, Tom. Though for what it's worth, I think the world certainly needs more cowbell <grin>
Too bad only three per day. Would be neat if we could vote on the three we would like to see – or is that too "idol"ish?
What about video's of the runner ups being posted somewhere on this site?
I think that you should have opened the invite for those who are in school/colleuge only or at least reserve a slot a day for the nextgen "meshers"

Back after the long weekend. Hope all had a pleasant one.
RichardBH: If it works well, we might do more next time, and the voting thing is something we have talked about (more today in fact) and might do down the road.
/pd: We will have a solid student presence, thanks to our Student passes. While we won't have a Student 15MOF category, we are seeing some pretty cool things from Students so they might be there, anyway. And don't forget the un-conference room, where anyone can share anything.
Is there a date when the decision will be made?
[...] So far, only the keynote speakers have been announced on the website, which include such industry heavyweights like Michael Arrington of TechCrunch fame, Jim Buckmaster from craigslist, and a returning speaker from last year, Tom Williams of GiveMeaning.com. It will be very interesting to see the rest of the schedule fleshed out over the next few months leading up to the event itself; I can’t wait! It would also be interesting to see another ‘15 minutes of fame‘ segment, like the one that existed last year and that I was included in (thanks again, mesh guys!) Or maybe hold a panel focused on how today’s teenagers have a growing influence on some of the largest websites on the web, including YouTube, MySpace, and Facebook? This would then be similar to what I spoke about at last year’s conference; I consider my little spiel at mesh 2006 to be foreshadowing the ‘Google buys YouTube‘ news! I think I'll save my Chris Walken "needs more cowbell" bit for cocktail hour, though it is tempting to apply.
