Alon MarcoviciAs Vice-President, Digital Media and Research of Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, Alon Marcovici manages the development of digital programming, including online, mobile and VOD, offering greater access, customization and interactivity on the various digital platforms. Marcovici (pronounced MAR-ko-vitch) also oversees the research team to deliver best-in-class information for broadcast leading up-to and during the Olympic Games.

Marcovici’s impressive 15-year career in marketing and communications spans the sports and entertainment, media and non-profit industries. His Olympic experience runs deep, having twice managed the on-site NBC Olympics Research Room at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney and the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

Prior to joining the Consortium, Marcovici was the Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer of the Toronto Board of Trade (2005 to 2007), where he oversaw sales, marketing, communications and blue-chip corporate sponsorship.

Marcovici’s career began in 1993 as a freelance writer, which included covering global multi-sport events such as the Commonwealth Games for newspapers and magazines throughout North America. From 1996 to 1998, Marcovici worked in the NBA’s communications department, writing and managing various publications for the NBA All-Star Game, Finals, Draft and the launch of the WNBA.

In 1998, Marcovici began a five-year term with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. as Director of Marketing Media, where he oversaw the direction and execution of marketing and creative initiatives for the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, NBA’s Toronto Raptors and Air Canada Centre.

In 2003, Marcovici was appointed Vice-President of Marketing & Communications for the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Office Depot Center, where he oversaw brand management, advertising and promotions, online and database marketing, media and community relations, and game presentations.

A frequent guest lecturer/panelist at numerous sports forums and conferences across North America, Marcovici dedicates time to the Toronto Sports Council and is a former member of the National Sports Forum Steering Committee. Originally from Israel, Marcovici currently lives in Toronto and is a graduate of McMaster University.
